Tanzania is strengthening its electricity transmission infrastructure to maximise the benefits of the 2,115MW Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP).

The completed Chalinze–Dodoma 400kV transmission line is already improving the reliability of electricity delivery to central Tanzania while strengthening the national grid's capacity to carry increased power generation.

The investment is critical to ensuring that additional electricity from JNHPP can be efficiently transmitted to cities, industries, businesses and communities.

Why it matters: Stronger transmission infrastructure turns increased generation capacity into more reliable electricity—supporting Tanzania's industrialisation and economic growth.
