Tanzania and Poland have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic and financial cooperation, with a focus on strategic infrastructure financing, investment opportunities, and sustainable economic growth.

Tanzania's Minister of Finance, Hon. Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar (MP), held bilateral discussions with Poland's Minister of Finance and Economy, Hon. Andrzej Domański, on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand.

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening economic relations between the two countries and exploring new opportunities for investment and development partnerships.

Tanzania and Poland Review Infrastructure Financing Cooperation

During the discussions, the two ministers reviewed progress in existing bilateral cooperation, particularly the financing of strategic infrastructure projects through the Polish Export Credit Insurance Corporation (KUKE).

The discussions highlighted the importance of international financial partnerships in supporting Tanzania's infrastructure development agenda and broader economic transformation.

Both countries also explored opportunities to deepen development cooperation and mobilize financial resources for priority investment projects.

Poland's Contribution to Tanzania's Standard Gauge Railway

Poland remains an important development partner in Tanzania's implementation of major infrastructure initiatives, including the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project.

The SGR is a strategic transport infrastructure investment designed to improve connectivity, facilitate domestic and regional trade, reduce transportation costs, and enhance economic efficiency.

Improved railway infrastructure is also expected to strengthen regional integration and support Tanzania's position as a transport and logistics hub in East Africa.

Expanding Investment and Development Opportunities

The ministers further discussed opportunities to expand economic cooperation in sectors of mutual interest, aligning potential investments with Tanzania's national development priorities.

The discussions emphasized attracting productive investment, improving infrastructure, strengthening international financial partnerships, and supporting long-term economic growth.

The bilateral engagement reflects ongoing efforts by Tanzania and Poland to deepen economic relations, promote sustainable development, and unlock new opportunities for trade and investment.
