The United Republic of Tanzania has significantly increased its bilateral trade with South Africa in the last five years, primarily driven by gold exports. According to Tanzania Trade Development Authority data, exports to South Africa nearly doubled from USD 1.145 billion in 2020 to USD 2.293 billion in 2024, with Dar es Salaam as the main trade hub.
